Kazakopoulos Leonidas

Kazakopoulos is University Professor of Rural Sociology and former Head of the Department of Agricultural Economics and Rural Development at the Agricultural University of Athens. He obtained both his M. of Sc. in Sociology and his Ph.D. in Rural Sociology from Iowa State University, USA..Over the last ten years his research interests were focused on issues of farm modernization, rural diversification and development while currently his research work is mostly oriented to aspects of rural youth, gender and migrant labor force. He has been involved in several research projects at national and European level including the coordination of a European FAIR3 research project.  He has been past president of the Greek Association of Agricultural Economists, and Council Member of the European Association for Rural Sociology. Over the last 5 years he is National Correspondent to OECD for their Co-operative Research Programmme on Biological Resource Management for Sustainable Agriculture Systems He has been past president  of the Greek Association of Agricultural  Economists, and  Council Member of  the European Association  for Rural Sociology. Dr. Kazakopoulos has worked in Bulgaria, Hungary and the Democracy of Georgia on issues related to rural development and agriculture.
